So now they are getting the naming rights to the BIG Giants/Jets Stadium. Granted two teams in the richest sport in the league in the biggest stadium in the area is big deal for them but why not have your name plastered on the building that plays 81+ games a season for a franchise that happens to also share the same name?

THIS IS INFURIATING!
WHY WHY WHY DID THEY BLOW IT?

Were they outbid by Citibank, or did they not go for it at all?
If they got outbid and came in second place, it would make sense that they would win the next opportunity that came down the pike.
If they didn't go for it at all, it's probably for the very same reasons you guys are mentioning it. MetLife and confusion with Mets - they'd get a lot less bang for their buck. Blurring the distinction between Mets and MetLife to where the field would probably be called by the layman as something like Met Field or Mets Field, dropping the Life part, then MetLife loses out. As a fan, it woulda been GREAT. As a MetLife branding opportunity, I can see a downside.

(I know you're totally right, but I wanted-wanted-wanted that for all of the reasons why it doesn't work.)
